Girls on the Run

Girls on the Run (GOTR) is a nationwide not-for-profit positive youth development program that combines an interactive curriculum with running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen and adolescent girls.

There are many GOTR groups in the District, including two GOTR groups at THEARC, and there are plans to have more groups in future seasons. There are also additional groups in elementary schools and middle schools throughout the District of Columbia.

In GOTR, girls train by walking and running with their peer group and mentors, known as "sole-mates." The girls work through the season to prepare to complete a 5K race.
