Nursing Students

As a nursing student, you might already be craving hands-on experience at a highly respected hospital. You may be thinking about where or with which population you want to work after graduation.

At Children’s, a world-class teaching hospital and internationally-recognized leader in pediatric health, we invite nursing students at all stages of learning to explore the “real world” of working in a hospital setting and experience first-hand the challenges and rewards of this career.

Our longstanding tradition of academic partnerships:
  • At the beginning of 2012 there are  56 nursing schools affiliated with Children's National in the Washington area, the mid-Atlantic region and around the United States;  30 offering undergraduate nursing programs,  36 graduate and one practical nursing programs. These affiliates include clinical rotations at Children's for nursing students who are in undergraduate (baccalaureate and associate degree), masters, post-graduate, and practical nursing programs. Visit your school's career services office for more information.
  • A one-year Pediatric Nurse Residency Program for newly graduated registered nurses that builds a concrete knowledge and skill base in pediatric nursing practice. Components of the program include hospital and nursing orientation programs, specialized classes, mentoring   opportunities, a three to six month preceptor-ship program, guided and independent clinical experiences, competency development, professional practice seminars, and consultation clinics. For more information contact Jill Titone Board, nurse recruiter, at 301-244-4831 or
