The Surgical Care Unit (SCU) is a 31-bed unit specializing in the care of patients requiring intervention for burns, trauma, bariatric surgery, general pediatric surgery, urology, reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic surgical procedures.
Nursing staff in the SCU are experts in post-operative care, trauma care, burn care management and orthopaedic care. All staff members are registered nurses, with assistance from patient care technicians and patient services associates. Nurses are required to participate in continuing education as a requirement for the organization's designation as a level one trauma center.
