The Surgical Care Unit (SCU) is a 30-bed unit specializing in the care of patients requiring intervention for burns, trauma, general pediatric surgery, reconstructive surgery, and orthopaedic surgical procedures.
Nursing staff in the SCU are experts in post-operative care, burn care management and orthopaedic care. All staff members are registered nurses, with assistance from patient care technicians and patient services associates. Nurses are pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certified and are required to participate in continuing education.
