The 32-bed Hematology/Oncology Care Unit includes an eight-bed Blood and Marrow Transplant Unit and the Hematology/Oncology Outpatient Clinic. The unit admits children of all ages with hematologic and oncologic concerns. Nurses can enroll in an Essentials of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nursing Foundations Course and a Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Course.
Many nurses in this unit affiliate with the Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses and the local chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society. Nurses on the unit are certified as pediatric oncology nurses (CPON) through the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation.
