Keynote speaker
Bernice Buresh, Speaker. 2009 Pediatric Trends Conference. Children's National Medical Center

Bernice Buresh is a journalist and co-author, with Suzanne Gordon, of the award-winning book, From Silence to Voice: What Nurses Know and Must Communicate to the Public.  Over the last decade and a half, she has lectured and conducted communication workshops with nurses in the United States, Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia and New Zealand.

Ms. Buresh started her journalistic career as a reporter for the Milwaukee Sentinel where she covered the civil rights movement, the anti-war movement, elective politics and local and state government.  She went on to become a correspondent and bureau chief for Newsweek magazine.

Ann E. Weeks, Speaker. 2009 Pediatric Trends Conference. Children's National Medical Center

Ann E. Weeks, DNS, RN is a nationally known speaker who gives her audiences many everyday strategies to deal with the stresses of life’s passages.  Ann’s ever-present sense of humor and real life stories always make her presentations a treat.  She is the author of eleven publications and numerous short stories.

As a nurse family therapist in private practice for thirty-six years, Ann works with individuals, couples and families dealing with life’s passages and stresses.


Day 2
Alan P. Agins, Speaker. 2009 Pediatric Trends Conference. Children's National Medical Center Alan P. Agins, PhD in Pharmacological Sciences is currently an adjunct associate professor at Brown University and an adjunct professor in the Schools of Nursing at Penn State and Radford Universities where he teaches the graduate nursing pharmacology courses.  Over the past ten years, Dr. Agins has lectured nationally to more than 37,000 advanced practice clinicians, pharmacists and physicians, and has become a regularly invited speaker at annual conferences for a number of national organizations.  He has also developed and presented continuing education programs on basic and clinical pharmacology of herbal and natural supplements.  He is an author, writer, reviewer and contributor to various journals.
Dale Halsey Lea, Speaker. 2009 Pediatric Trends Conference. Children's National Medical Center Dale Halsey Lea, MSN, NP is a Board Certified genetic counselor with more than 20 years experience in clinical and educational genetics. She is currently the Health Educator with the Education and Community Involvement Branch and the Genomic Healthcare Branch, National Human Genome Research Institute. As Health Educator, Ms. Lea develops consumer and health professional genetics health education and community involvement programs and resources; translates genetic and genomic research results into terms understandable by lay audiences; conducts genetics research for the Education and Community Involvement Branch; and provides administrative support for public and health professional education and community involvement programs.
