Initiatives and Accomplishments

Collaborative Mobile Immunizations Campaign
  • Department of Health (DOH), It’s Wise to Immunize and Mobile Health Programs
  • August-September 2009 - School Nurses Immunized 1,000 students

Title 1 Head Start Hearing & Vision Screening
  • Federal mandate: Screening of three and four year olds within 45 days of new school year.
  • 89% (4,166 of 4,670) students screened October 4-26, 2010.

Staffing Enhancement
  • In July 2007, approximately 37% of the DC Public Schools (DCPS) and Public Charter Schools (PCS) had a full time nurse assigned.
  • As of January 2011, approximately 98% of all DCPS and PCS covered under contract with the city have full time coverage.
