Obesity
Obesity is one of the most common public health problems in our society today. Children are increasingly affected by lack of activity and unhealthy food choices. Children’s National is committed to preventing obesity and treating kids who are suffering from it.
The award winning “Lighten Up” campaign, began in 2008 and has helped thousands of area families understand how to combat obesity. www.childrensnational.org/lightenup
Children’s National has a clinic for obese kids. The IDEAL clinic (Improving Diet, Exercise, and Activity for Life) is a multi-disciplinary team that treats kids ages 2-18 who are at risk of obesity or who have been diagnosed as obese.
