Children's National NICU Reunion
On April 25, Children’s National hosted a reunion for Neonatal Intensive Care graduates from the past five years. More than 130 people attended the event, with lunch, face-painting, crafts, dog show, and a visit by Dr. Bear. Families and patients reunited with Children’s physicians, nurses, and staff—as often times patients stay in our NICU for more than 30 days and build strong relationships with other families and their care teams.
The reunion also revealed Children’s new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which opens on May 17. The state-of-the-art 54-bed facility was designed with the input of NICU graduate families, and features the latest in technological and family-centered care amenities. The unit is approximately four times larger than the current space and has private patient rooms with sweeping views of the DC monuments.
