Getting to the Hospital
Directions and Parking
Children’s National’s Sheikh Zayed Campus for Advanced Children’s Medicine (main hospital) is located at 111 Michigan Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20010. Call the Welcome Desk at 202-476-3000 if you need directions mailed, faxed, or emailed to you.
For an overnight stay, you should park in the designated visitor parking garage on levels P-O, P-1, and P-2. If you will be at the hospital for more than 3 hours, we recommend purchasing a daily parking sticker for $5. The sticker is good for 24 hours. Purchase your parking sticker at the following locations:
- Cashier’s Office in the Main Atrium of Children’s National, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Parking Office, located near the Emergency Department, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
From 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, valet parking is available in the underground parking garage. The valet service is free, but you must still pay to park in the garage. To get your keys and car:
- From 7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, go to the valet station on the P-1 level
- After 5 p.m., take your valet slip to the parking garage cashier on parking level P-1 (near the valet kiosk)
- After 1:30 a.m., pick up keys from the Security Office, located near the Emergency Department on the first floor, East Inpatient Tower.
Parking for guests with special needs is available on the P-1 parking level. After you drive through the parking garage gate, turn left. Take the elevators up to the main hospital entrance. Use the tan house phone located on the P-1 level if you need a wheelchair or help moving yourself, a patient, or visitor.
Public Transportation to Children’s National Medical Center
The closest Metrorail stop is Brookland/CUA (Catholic University) on the Red Line.
Metrobus H1, H2, and H4 buses stop in front of the hospital on Michigan Avenue, NW.
We offer a free Metro Shuttle Service between the hospital and the Brookland/CUA Metro station, Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. (last departure). The shuttle picks up and drops off passengers at the visitor/patient drop-off area on the P-1 level of the parking garage. Please note that Children’s Metro shuttle does not operate on weekends or holidays. Shuttle and Metro bus schedules are available at the Welcome Desk.
Taxi Service
The Welcome Desk in the Main Atrium has a phone with a direct line to area taxi companies. You must remain in the Main Atrium once a taxi company has been called to receive your taxi confirmation number. When your taxi arrives, the Welcome Desk staff will ask you to meet the taxi at the P-1 level.
