Research Administration

Leadership
Our leadership team has three branches, Children's Research Institute Senior Leadership, Board of Trustees and the Department of Pediatrics at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Grants Management
The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) is the office responsible for sponsored research at Children’s National Medical Center.

Institutional Review Board
An IRB is a committee consisting of scientists, non-scientists, and individuals not affiliated with Children's National Medical Center with sufficient expertise and diversity to review and evaluate ethical issues involved in research protocols.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee is a federally mandated committee, qualified through the experience and expertise of its members, that oversees its institution's animal program, facilities, and procedures.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Children’s National Medical Center aims to ensure the health and safety of all personnel working with biohazardous agents. The IBC assures that research conducted at the institution is in compliance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant DNA Molecules.

Academic Affairs and Services
Academic Affairs aims to recruit, retain, and ensure the academic success and advancement of faculty and to promote recognition of our faculty's accomplishments locally, nationally and internationally.

Conflict of Interest
The growing involvement of scientific, academic and clinical investigators with industrial organizations (pharmaceutical, biotechnical and device industries) has heightened concerns about potential conflicts of interest in these interactions. CRI’s goal is to develop the means to manage material conflicts of interest and ensure that the integrity of the investigator, CRI, and the academic research, training or clinical activities of Children's National community are not compromised or perceived to be compromised by considerations of personal gain or financial benefit.
