About Our Program: Our Facility
Children’s National uses the most technologically advanced equipment to serve our 283 inpatient beds. Our new state-of-the-art catheterization lab, intraoperative MRI, and enhanced surgical center allow parents to have closer access to their children before and after surgery. In fact, Children’s National was the first pediatric hospital in the United States to utilize the intraoperative MRI, allowing real-time imaging of the brain and spinal cord to evaluate the degree of tumor resection to reduce the number of surgical complications and additional operations in these patients.
In Fall 2007, Children’s opened the new East Inpatient Tower to enhance family-centered care, which includes an inpatient building with private rooms, private bathrooms. All rooms have family space, with both patient and family Internet access. The tower will include approximately 140 new rooms, and features a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Heart/Kidney Center, Surgical and Neurosciences inpatient units, as well as a comprehensive Cancer Center.
