Volunteer as a Group: Donation Drives

Dr. Bear’s Buddies
are students who work alone or with their school or classmates to raise money or collect arts and crafts materials, games, books, toys, or toiletries for Children’s Volunteer Services and Consumer Support team. The donations go a long way in helping to relieve stress and boredom for patients while staying in the hospital.

Donation Drive Ideas
The Volunteer Services team works with groups to decide what items to collect from the wish list, such as:
  • Stuffed toys
  • Art supplies
  • Books
Students also can have an “activity box day,” where everyone puts together and decorates activity boxes or care baskets full of items, such as art supplies, cards, bubbles and toiletries.

Fundraising Ideas
There are many ways students can fundraise, including:
  • Bake sales
  • Penny drives
  • Craft Fairs
  • Book Drives
  • “Bring-a-dollar-and-box-of-crayons-to-school” day
Recognition
Groups who meet their goals receive special thanks, which might include a visit from Dr. Bear, small prizes or service awards.
