Overview and Description:
This conference provides pediatric emergency medicine providers with updates and current academic trends in topics commonly encountered by healthcare professionals in the care of the acutely ill pediatric patient. A new format is being introduced this year. Didactic lectures will be presented in the morning, and a practical work-shop on selected pediatric procedures will be provided during the afternoon session. Participants will learn the latest advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and clinical skills necessary in pediatric emergency medicine.
- Learn the latest approach in the assessment and treatment of children with urinary tract infections.
- Better understand the fundamental considerations in patient safety in the acute care setting.
- Discuss current approaches to procedural sedation alternatives in the emergency department.
- Discuss the approach and management of selected dangerous poisonings in children.
- Become familiar with rashes and skin marks that are worrisome for child abuse.
- Become familiar with current literature and research in the field of pediatric emergency medicine.
- Better understand methods and techniques of simple laceration repair.
- Learn the management and splinting of selected pediatric fractures.
- Become more familiar with the principles of pediatric airway management.
