Biography

Venkat R. Shankar, MD, MBA, joined Children’s National as the Division chief of Respiratory Care from St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia where he was Chief of Pediatric Critical Care after having been recruited from Vanderbilt University three years earlier. Dr. Shankar also is an attending in the PICU and CICU. His research interests include Extracorporeal membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), status asthmaticus, congenital heart disease and procedural sedation.
