Biography

Dr. Monica Pearl is the Director of Interventional Neuroradiology dedicated to pediatric neurovascular disorders at Children's National. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Duke University in 2002. Following two years of general surgery and four years of diagnostic radiology at the George Washington University, she earned her certification from the American Board of Radiology in 2008. Dr. Pearl completed fellowships in both Diagnostic Neuroradiology and Interventional Neuroradiology at the Johns Hopkins University. Her special areas of interest include the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric neurovascular diseases, superficial vascular malformations including arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), venous malformations, and lymphatic malformations as well as radiation dose reduction strategies and innovative endovascular therapies for pediatric tumors of the head, neck, and spine. She is the principal investigator for an active Phase II clinical trial involving the intra-arterial administration of chemotherapy for the treatment of intraocular retinoblastoma and an Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Pediatric Neuroradiology. She is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology, American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, and American Roentgen Ray Society. Dr. Pearl is available for patient and physician consultation, image review, and sees patients at Children’s National in her clinic by appointment.
