Biography  |
| William P. Madigan, Jr., MD, FACS, is Vice Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Children’s National Medical Center. He continues as Professor and Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He serves as Director of the Children’s National Pediatric Ophthalmology Fellowship, the oldest, largest and most prestigious in the world. Dr. Madigan retired from the US Army in 2004 as Chief of Ophthalmology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Consultant to the Surgeon General for Ophthalmology. He acts as consultant to Walter Reed for a monthly conference reviewing very complex patients and making recommendations for their treatment. He was elected to the medical honor society, AOA. Dr. Madigan is an internationally recognized expert whose experience spans the entire spectrum of eye care for children and adults with strabismus. He is the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology for the Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Residency Program. He is the author of a number of original scientific papers, abstracts, editorials and book chapters and serves on the editorial board of a number of Ophthalmology journals.
