In 1998, the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health Bureau established the Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) National Heroes Awards to recognize and reward outstanding achievement in EMSC and to encourage continued excellence in the field.
Each February, the EMSC National Resource Center (NRC) distributes information about the awards program and solicits nominations. Nominations are due the first week of April.
National Heroes Award winners are announced at the Annual EMSC Program Meeting held each June in the Washington, DC area.
