Fetal Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
The Fetal Heart Program utilizes fetal echocardiography for the diagnoses and specialized management of fetuses with congenital heart disease and/or congestive heart failure in utero. Fetal MRI can be used in select cases to assess the heart and related structures. The team’s goal is to treat the fetus as a separate and individual patient, understand how heart defects affect well-being in utero and to determine when and if intervention may be possible.
This test produces detailed images of your baby's organs and structures within the body. MRI is mainly used to obtain detailed images of the fetal chest, abdomen and brain.
