Electrophysiology (Diagnostic and Interventional)
Children’s National Heart Institute Children’s is one of the few programs in the region dedicated to and specializing in the treatment of fetuses, infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with congenital heart disease and all types of arrhythmias. The electrophysiology team utilizes state-of-the-art techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias such as electrocardiography, echocardiography, esophageal recording and pacing, ambulatory heart rhythm monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, tilt table studies, heart-rate variability analysis, signal-averaged electrocardiograms, T-wave alternans, invasive electrophysiology studies and ablations, defibrillator implantation,Extraction Pacing and ICD Lead Extraction, and loop monitor implantations.
Children’s staff includes the first pediatric electrophysiologist in the region to utilize cryoablation for children with cardiac rhythm abnormalities. The electrophysiology service utilizes a team approach of physicians, nurse practitioners, and technicians to provide state-of-the-art care to children and young adults. - Departments & Programs - Children's National Medical Center
