Emergency Communication and Information Center (ECIC)
The ECIC is a multifaceted state-of-the-art communications/ operations center operating 24/7 to provide a single source to receive referrals of pediatric patients from community physicians, clinics, schools, and hospitals.
The Center:
- Functions as coordinator for the Emergency Transport Team, able to provide ground or air response as the situation dictates
- Acts as liaison with fire, EMS, and private ambulance services
- In the event of a disaster, acts as communications hub for all hospitals through the DC Hospital Association HMARS System
- Provides weather support through NBC-4 4Winds Weather Network
- Provides helicopter operational support with rooftop pads
- Coordinates Prehospital Education Program offering both basic and advanced programs in emergency medical care for both adults and children
