Children's Pediatricians & Associates' (CP&A) mission is to provide high-quality care and services to enhance the health and well being of children and adolescents. Our purpose is accomplished through a mutually beneficial and positive relationship with Children's National Medical Center. Specialty Referrals
If your child needs a referral to a specialist, because of our affiliation with Children’s National, we can often facilitate a timely referral to their specialists. Our goal is to make every effort to schedule appointments for our patients with Children’s National specialists.  When necessary, we can provide you with a list of specialists in the area who we recommend when we are unable to get a timely specialty appointment at Children’s National. Please note that when scheduling an appointment with a specialist, you need to verify that that provider participates with your insurance. If you have an HMO or POS plan, you will also need to call our office and select the correct extension to request a referral at least 48 hours before the specialist appointment. If you have any questions regarding referrals, please contact your insurance carrier.

Our Philosophy and Culture
Doctors Hamburger, Kaplan, Paulson, Ratner, Schoonover, and Wagner are board-certified pediatricians dedicated to providing excellent comprehensive primary care to the children and adolescents of the Washington, DC metropolitan area. We work with a pediatric nurse practitioner, Bernadette Deely, as well as a wonderful nursing staff to meet the needs of our very diverse group of patients. We schedule well child care visits in accordance with the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition, we provide training in Primary Care Pediatrics to resident physicians from Children's Hospital who see patients with us in our practice. This mutually beneficial relationship keeps us constantly informed of new developments in pediatrics through a weekly conference schedule and on-site teaching by specialists from Children's Hospital.

Our History
Our practice has been in existence for over 20 years. Until October of 2002, we were known collectively as "GW Pediatrics," and we were located at the GW Ambulatory Care Center. Five of our six physicians have been with our group for more than 14 years. Our affiliation with the Children's National Medical Center Residency program began in 1979. Our downtown location allows us to conveniently serve families from Maryland, Virginia, and DC.
